Doctoral degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Zurich; Master's degree in Social Anthropology (major), International Law (minor) and Religious Studies (minor) from the University of Zurich. Professional experience as lecturer, researcher and consultant at the University of Teacher Education Zug, as researcher in the field of social impact assessment in the post-Tsunami Indonesian province of Aceh and as primary and secondary school teacher at different schools in the canton of Zurich. Currently involved in pre-service and in-service teacher education as well as in different research and development projects, consultancies and leadership functions, focusing on the following areas of interest: social boundary making, social justice in and through education, dealing with social inequalities and migration-related diversity, study abroad and its learning potential, professional development, teachers with a so-called immigrant background and diversity among teachers.

Professional experience as teacher and research associate in Switzerland, Australia and China. Current working fields cover research and teaching activities in the field of Intercultural Education and program management of the CAS «German as a second language and interculturality».

Research experience at the Universities of Bremen (Interdisciplinary Linguistics & Study of Social Space), Neuchâtel (Border Studies, Boundary Making & Sociolinguistics) and Zurich (Multilingualism & Social inequalities). Teaching experience at the Universities of Bremen (Introduction to Linguistics, Discourse Analysis & Linguistic Landscapes) and Freiburg im Breisgau (Sociolinguistics of Gender, Migration & Humor). Currently leading the mentoring project ‘Nightingale’, lecturing and researching.
