Zug is well established as a business region in its own right - and this success story is set to continue. The Canton of Zug is home of over 30,000 companies and offers 82,000 workplaces.

Economic structure
Zug can claim a very varied range of economic activity. The mix of top quality manufacturing and service sector companies - embracing several key clusters - reflects the well-balanced blend of business across the canton.

Currently 21 % of the entire workforce is employed in the fast-growing manufacturing sector. Most of these are employed in the high-tech, computer and electronics industries, in medical technology/diagnostics and the pharmaceutical fields, as well as the metal working industry.

Some 78 % of the canton's labor force is engaged in the service sector. They are employed in a vast and varied range of specialized fields, extending from commodity trading, wholesale and the distribution of branded products to finance, schooling, management training and the marketing of sports goods.

SMEs (Small-to-medium enterprises)
Small-to-medium enterprises are well represented in Zug. Many of them supply their products and services to companies located throughout the canton.
