The Land Registry and Geoinformation Office will clarify whether a procedure for determining the non-approval obligation will be initiated. The attached questionnaire must be submitted to the Land Registry and Geoinformation Office together with the legal transaction when acquiring residential property and/or building land for residential purposes.

  1. EU/EFTA nationals who are legally and actually resident in Switzerland are not subject to the «Lex Koller».
  2. Nationals of third countries (non-EU/EFTA countries) who are legally and actually resident in Switzerland may acquire real estate for their own residential purposes.
  3. The acquisition of business premises is not subject to the «Lex Koller».
  4. Vacation and second homes: The Canton of Zug has no quotas for vacation and second homes. In the Canton of Zug, the acquisition of vacation and second homes by persons abroad is not possible.

  1. With registered office abroad: Companies with registered office abroad can only acquire business locations.
  2. Domiciled in Switzerland: Companies domiciled in Switzerland may acquire real estate provided they are not deemed to be under foreign control. Foreign control exists if persons abroad own more than one-third of the capital or voting rights or have granted significant loans.
