Sport and socialising in Hünenberg

In Hünenberg, there are many opportunities for leisure-time sports and relaxation right on your doorstep.

In Summer, the Lake of Zug and the River Reuss invite you to come and bathe and indulge in all sorts of water sports. Kemmatten Village has one of the most beautiful bathing facilities on the Lake of Zug - Hünenberg Beach. Nearby is Dersbach dry dock with space for about 60 boats and surfboards. Boat parking lots can be reserved through the Municipal Business Commission (Tel: +41 41 784 44 74). The Hünenberg Tennis Club with its three courts is not far from the beach. The Hünenberg Volleyball Club has also laid out two beach volleyball courts here. All manner of sporting events take place in the new triple gymnasium in the village.

The well-developed cycling and hiking track network is highly suitable for families. Barbecues along the tracks invite you to pause for a cosy fry-up. The many well-developed playgrounds are a paradise for children.

At the Reussspitz nature reserve and bird sanctuary, where the Lorze flows into the Reuss, rare birds and plants can be observed . Not far from there is the "Bützen" country inn on the roof of which nest storks, whose everyday life can be directly observed through a permanently installed camera. You can take romantic trips downhill from Hünenberg in horse carriages and horse carts.

The Lorze industrial nature trail, which illustrates the history of the utilisation of the hydraulic power of the Lorze on information boards, leads from the confluence of the Lorze in Cham almost to the Reussspitz.

The old Meienberg tile works that are maintained by the Cham Tileworks Museum Foundation stand In the Herrenwald (woods) in the Municipality of Cham on the border with the Municipality of Hünenberg. Guided tours can be booked by calling +41 41 741 36 24. The old Tileworks can also be used for casual family and other parties.
Professional and beginner golfers get more that their money's worth on the public green in the neighbouring Municipality of Risch (18 holes and a driving range plus a 9-hole green partly on Hünenberg territory).

The splendid skiing areas of central Switzerland are just an hour away for both skiing and other Winter sports. The "Bösch/Rothus" tennis and squash centre also offers gymnastics classes for fitness freaks.
