The Swiss Prealpine region is fortunate enough to get enough rain throughout the year. This usually eliminates the need for irrigation. However, the nice and dry  weather periods are usually very short.

The farmers want to produce products of the highest quality, therefor they need the best feed for their animals. In order to get the optimal time for the cultivation and the harvest of the feed crops it is sometimes necessary to do fieldwork outside of office hours. When it comes to hay production it is very important for the quality that it doesn't rain into the grass when it is cut to dry out.

Climate change can also be felt in agriculture, so weather extremes become more frequent in the future and cause big challenges for the farmers.
