Within these pilot projects, education specialists from Save the Children and Red Cross/Red Crescent Organizations developed context-specific versions of the school project for their respective target groups.

IZB developed and carried out in-service trainings in order to prepare teachers and education specialists in different settings to implement the specific pedagogical approaches in «Project Humanity» such as discussion-based teaching, value-based education and opinion building.

Out of the manifold experiences in these short-term trainings, IZB developed a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in «Pedagogical Approaches for Humanitarian Principles and Values» in English. In 2019, 18 students from eleven different countries graduated successfully.

Based on the lessons learned, a second edition conceptualized as a «Diploma of Advanced Studies» (DAS) started in spring 2021.
